Regardless of the reality that web betting is now a many billion dollar business, and endless thousands of additional gamblers world-wide sign on daily to bet at online casinos, there are still millions of newcomers to the environment of internet betting who do not as yet have a good understanding of much of the doublespeak used in internet wagering, and betting on sports in general. However, insight of these ideas is essential to interpreting the games and regulations of betting:

ACTION: Any type of bet.

ALL-IN: In poker, all-in means a player has risked all of her bankroll into the pot. A second pot is created for the wagerers with remaining chips.

ALL-UP: To bet on several horses in the same event.

ANTE: A poker phrase for allocating a specified value of money into the pot prior to the start of each hand.

BRING-IN: A mandatory bet in 7-card stud carried out by the player displaying the smallest value card.

BUST: You don’t win; As in 21, when a player’s cards are valued over 21.

BUY-IN: The minimal amount of money necessary to appear in a game or tournament.

CALL: As in poker, when a wager is the same as a previously carried out wager.

CHECK: In poker, to stay in the game without wagering. This is allowed only if no other gamblers wager in that round.

CLOSING A BET: Like in spread wagering, meaning to lay a bet equal to but opposite of the initial wager.

COLUMN BET: To bet on one or more of the three columns of a roulette table.

COME BET: In craps, the same as a pass-line bet, but carried out after the hurler has ascertained his number.

COME-OUT ROLL: A crapshooters first toss to establish a number, or the 1st toss after a number is arrived at.

COVERALL: A bingo term, meaning to cover all the numbers on a bingo sheet.

CRAPPING OUT: In craps, to roll a 2, 3 or twelve is an immediate loss on the come-out roll.

DAILY DOUBLE: To choose the winners of the first two races of the night.

DOWN BET: To bet that the outcome of an event will be smaller than the lowest end of the quote on a spread bet, also known as a "sell".

DOZEN BET: In roulette, to wager on one or more of three sets of twelve numbers, 1-twelve, etc.

EACH WAY BET: A sports bet, meaning to gamble on a team or player to win or place in a game.

EVEN MONEY BET: A bet that pays out the identical number as wagered, ( 1:1 ).

EXACTA: wagering that two horses in a contest will finish in the exact same assignment as the bet – also known as a " Perfecta ".

FIVE-NUMBER LINE BET: In roulette, a bet made on a block of 5 numbers, like 1-2-3-0, and 00.
